Crookston made it three consecutive victories on Tuesday evening with a Section 8A win over Red Lake Falls at the Crookston Civic Arena.
The Pirates recorded all three goals in the second period. Brady Langlois and Jarret Butenhoff each recorded a goal and an assist in the contest. Crookston improved to 11-12 on the season and 6-6 in the section. Red Lake Falls fell to 11-11-1 and 7-9 in Section 8A play.
Alan Mart put the Pirates on the board at the 7:49 mark of the second period following a scoreless first. Zach Mercil and Alex Edevold assisted on the goal. The game-winning tally came off a shorthanded goal from Langlois at the 10:45 mark. The final goal for Crookston came at the 13:07 mark of the period from Butenhoff.
The Eagles made it 3-1 at the 14:51 mark of the third period with a goal by Cody Hanson but that was as close as they would come.
Matt Grove made 21 saves in net for the Pirates, while Red Lake Falls’ Zach Page stopped 34 shots.
The regular season comes to a close on Friday for Crookston when it hosts Park Rapids at 7:30 p.m.
The Panthers are 5-3-2 in Section 8A play and are one spot ahead of the Pirates in the standings.
