The Pirates are playing their best hockey at the end of the season. Crookston posted a 2-2 tie with Park Rapids Tuesday on the road. It was the fourth win or tie in its last five games.

The Pirates are now 6-14-3 on the season and 2-7-1 in the section. The Panthers are 15-6-2 overall and 7-3-2 in section play.

Panther Tucker Coborn scored two goals to put his team up 2-0 early in the second period. The first came with about three minutes left in the first period on a power play, and the second came 54 seconds into the second period. Kevin McMorrow assisted on both goals.

Crookston answered about six minutes after Coborn's second goal when Morgan Terpstra tallied his 18th goal of the season on an assist from Nick Regeimbal.

With just 1:47 left in the third period, Seth Heppner knotted the score up with his eighth goal of the season on an assist from Alex Edevold.

Neither team scored in the sudden death overtime session.

Nick Biermaier continued his steady play in net for Crookston with 35 saves, including 12 in the third and five in overtime. Ryan O'Mara turned away 30 shots for Park Rapids.

Crookston could rock Section 8A seedings if they could win its final two regular season games. It starts with Lake of the Woods Saturday at the Crookston Sports Center at 3 p.m. The regular season finale is Tuesday, Feb. 16 on the road against Red Lake Falls.
