EGF's Wikoff; Bagley's Thorson; Warroad's Ravndalen All Earn Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors.
Joey Wikoff, Forward, EGF Green Wave
East Grand Forks Green Wave senior forward, Joey Wikoff, had a fantastic week notching 2 goals and 3 assists. Wikoff, one of EGF's most steady offensive weapons, scored a goal and added an assist in the 6-5 overtime loss to Grand Forks Red River. On Saturday afternoon in Warroad, Joey compiled 1 goal and 1 assist in a late, third period comeback attempt that fell short, 6-4.
Joey has 32 total points on the season through February 4.
Michael Thorson, Forward, Bagley Flyers
Junior Michael Thorson ( 6'1", 185 lbs) posted 2 goals and 2 assists in Bagley's 6-5 come from behind win on Saturday, February 2, 2008, against Wahpeton/Breckenridge. Bagley was down 4-3 starting the third and with 10 minutes left but Thorson helped lead the Flyers back by assisting on Chris Fletchers game tying goal and scoring the game winner with 4 minutes left. His offensive presence was felt throughout the game as he notched 8 shots on goal. Thorson currently has 17 goals and 8 assists for 25 points this year.
Bryce Ravndalen, Forward, Warroad Warriors
Senior captain, Bryce Ravndalen, once again proved why he's so lethal, scoring 10 points in two games versus East Grand Forks and Grand Forks Central. On Saturday afternoon, Ravdalen tallied 2 goals+ 3 assists in the Warriors, 6-4 victory. He then repeated the 5 point outburst on Tuesday, February 5, where he collected 1goal + 4 assists in the 8-3 win over the Central Knights of GrandForks. This is Ravndalen's second selection as Section 8A Player-of-the-Week.
EGF's Kody Vizenor Selected As Section 8A DefensivePlayer-of-the-Week.
Kody Vizenor, Defense, EGF Green Wave
Kody Vizenor, a mainstay on the East Grand Forks blueline, earns Section 8A Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors. Vizenor sparked the EGF offense on Saturday afternoon versus the Warroad Warriors at The Gardens Arena. Kody scored 1 goal and added an assist in the third period as EGF mounted a comeback at Warroad. Down 4-0, EGF foughtback to get to 5-4 but Warroad scored an empty netter to seal the win. Vizenor's defensive talents in all game situations against top end caliber teams like Warroad, Grand Forks Red River and Moorhead have earned him this weeks honor. Kody has accrued 3 goals plus 8assists this season for the Green Wave.
Walker/Hackensack/Akeley's Devon Weberg; Kittson Central's ScottLindegard Earn Section 8A Co-Goaltenders-of-the-Week.
Devon Weberg, Goalie, Walker-H-A Ice Wolves
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley's goaltender, Devon Weberg, had a great week between the pipes for the Ice Wolves. The senior goalie steered aside 52 of 54 shots in the 3-1 loss to Red Lake Falls, and posted a 96.3 Save % on the night. During the 2008 campaign, Weberg has earned a 88.9 Save % on 650 shots. His Ice Wolves are playing in their inuguaral season in Section 8A and Minnesota High School Hockey.
Scott Lindegard, Goalie, Kittson Central Wolfpack
Kittson Central Wolfpack senior goaltender, Scott Lindegard, is one of the prime reasons KC is near to top of Section 8A standing. Lindegard had 41 saves against Park Rapids last Friday night in the wild 3-2 victory over the previously unbeaten Panthers of ParkRapids. Scott also earned victories over Crookston, a 5-4 overtim eaffair, and a turned aside 25 or 26 shots in the 4-1 win last Saturday afternoon at Wadena-Deer Creek.
Head Coach Scott Younggren proclaims, "He (Lindegard) is a leader with his intense play between the pipes for us."
Lindegard has kept Kittson Central in many games this season and given his Wolfpack a chance to win night in and night out.

A Peoples Choice ..... A Look At UND Fighting Sioux Player, T.J. Oshie

I felt compelled to feature this story tonight when North America is looking at the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Men's hockey team.
Head Coach Dave Hakstol was suspended by UND this week and word spread quickly throughout college hockey. Back in early January, my eldest son, T.J. Oshie, was also suspended by UND Athletic Department for one game versus St. Cloud State University.
My rationale tonight is to give you the other side of T.J. Oshie, the side spoken so eloquently by the Pittsburgh Penguins scout, Chuck "Ole Gringo" Grillo. This article, along with scores of others, never seem to surface when the time is right. I cannot speak on this issue due to the case still being open, yet hope the people understand once the issue is settled.
UND, in my mind, is the finest college institution both academically and athletically in the nation. The Fighting Sioux Hockey program is a "true family" to say the least. Legends like Gordon "Ginny" Christian, John Noah and others come back each weekend to the Ralph Engelstad Arena and cheer on the Fighting Sioux as passionately as when they played for them.
Dave Hakstol is the mentor, coach, motivator and leader to the Fighting Sioux hockey team. His dedication to his athletes, his family, his friends and the University of North Dakota is second to none.
My son, my family, and thousands of others stand united behind the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey Family and Head Coach Dave Hakstol.

Chuck Grillo has spent 27 years searching for special hockey players.
He's seen guys develop into Mr. Hockey winners, Hobey Baker Memorial Award winners and NHL All-Stars during his long tenure as a Minnesota-based scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Then came his encounter with T.J. Oshie.
"You can watch a lot of hockey and not see someone like him," Grillo said. "I've seen a lot of players, seen a lot of people and met a lot of people. I don't know if I've met any other T.J. Oshies.
"Kids like him don't come along very often. T.J. is unique, and I think the people in Grand Forks can see that."
Indeed, Oshie has a fan following at UND.
It was present long before this summer, when Oshie told St. Louis Blues president John Davidson, general manager Larry Pleau and Hall of Famer Al MacInnes that he wasn't going to sign their near-$1 million offer because he wanted to return to UND.
From nearly his first game with the Sioux, Oshie created a buzz amongst those watching. The Sioux have been filled with superstars and first-round draft picks throughout the years, but Oshie seems to attract a different level of attention.

The George Pelawa Tragedy; A Personal Look Back

When I think back to my collegiate days and my journey back to Minnesota in 1986, I'm reminded each day how precious life is.
I was a Bemidji State University basketball junior college recruit coming via Everett Community College in Washington. It was in late August of '86, that I had the distinct opportunity to meet a gentleman by the name of George Pelawa.
We played golf together in an Native American Tournament near Bemidji. I can vividly remember his massive frame yet a very soft spoken young man. We had a chance to catch up on life and he told me he was excited to attend and play hockey for the University of North Dakota in a couple weeks.
That vision and opportunity never happened. George Pelawa was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Labor Day Weekend of 1986.
I can remember the Cass Lake / Bemidji communities mourning this special young man. I remember how the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and it's members were so devastated by the loss of this incredible young man. It was a very sad day for Native America as one its fine young members with lofty dreams and such a great heart was taken from Mother Earth.

Almost 21 years ago (Labor Day Weekend), the Flames lost 1st rounder George Pelawa in a car accident. He was a day or two away from starting his freshman year at UND. He was 6'3" 240 lbs, 3 sport athlete; was named Mr. Hockey among all MN high school players his draft year.
The Flames still have a scholarship in his name at Bemidji High School.

Tom Cochrane and Red Rider: This one still gives me chills. In 1986, the Calgary Flames drafted George Pelawa 16th overall. He was a prospect that had size to go with a scoring prowess. He was playing in the U.S. collegiate circles and was killed in a highway collision. The story is told from the fathers point of view. No hockey Dad can distance themselves from the lyric "My boy's gonna play in the big league/ my boy's gonna knock 'em dead" without feeling it's sting. It is a true Canadian tale that ends when "Ice meets metal/In the wrong lane to the big league".
Cochrane's broken hearted "Aaaah aha" wail makes one's neck hair stand on end. The truest of Canadian classics.

Kittson Central Knocks Off Previously Undefeated Park Rapids, 3-2; Move Into 1st Place Tie

The Kittson Central Wolfpack is making believers out of Section 8A.
Coming off several big wins the last couple weeks, and a decisive 8-0 lopsided loss to East Grand Forks, the boys from Hallock were thinking upset last night at the Park Rapids Community Center. After making the 212 mile trek south to Park Rapids, the Wolfpack prepared to take on the Panthers in front of a packed, mostly Panthers crowd. Park Rapids was one of only two undefeated teams in Minnesota (Roseau 20-0-0) as of February 1, 2008.
Now, there is only one.
Playing inspired hockey from the get-g0, Kittson Central mounted a 2-0 lead before Park Rapids cut that lead in half. KC then extended the lead to 3-1 before the Panthers made it 3-2. The victory was fitting for the late-surging KC Wolfpack. The win over Park Rapids avenged a 6-1 loss back on January 5th in Hallock.
The Wolfpack fought off four, third period penalties to secure the upset of the season in Section 8A.
With the win, Kittson Central moves into a three-way log jam with Warroad and Park Rapids with each team garnering 14 points.
KC travels to Wadena-Deer Creek this afternoon for a 3 p.m. tilt while Warroad hosts the EGF Green Wave at The Gardens Arena.

Warroad Warrior's junior defenseman, Tai Larson, has been selected as the Section 8A Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Larson, a steady on the Warroad defensive unit, has emerged as a solid performer from the blueline.Tai currently sits at 4g + 9a for (13) points in 20 games for Warroad. He provided the tying goal in "The Gardens Miracle" last Friday night as he slipped a shot past Duluth Marshall's goaltender as time was expiring to push the game to overtime after Warroad scored two goals in the final :16.
Warroad's Dane Shaugabay scored a shorthanded game just 1:14 into the OT to finish one of Warroad High Schools most miraculous comebacks of all time. Larson's goal was directly after a face-off in the Hilltopper's zone and will remembered as the goal that brought fans back to their seats after warming up the cars in the frigid Lake of the Woods air last Friday.
The victory was a sweet one for Warroad as Duluth Marshall came in as the #1 ranked team in Minnesota Class "A".

Dahl, feared by many opponents with his size (6'1, 205 lbs), has opened scouts eyes in the state of Minnesota with his physicality and great offensive prowess.
Lukas notched a 5-point game back on January 22, 2008, in a 12-0 win over Bagley-Fosston. Dahl had a 2g + 3a night versus the Flyers. Last week against Crookston, Dahl once again provided the spark with two points on the evening (1g + 1a) in the 5-4 thriller over the Pirates.
On January 26, Dahl showcased his physical presence leading the Wolfpack to a come-back, 4-3 victory over Fargo Shanley High of North Dakota. Lukas scored one and contibuted a helper in the victory.
Dahl now has 34 points in 19 games for Head Coach Scott Younggren's squad that has gone 12-5-0 during the last 17 games after a 1-3-0 start to the season for a 13-8-0 overall record.

Warroad 3 Duluth Marshall 2 OT
It was a match-up of Class A powerhouses as the Hilltoppers of Duluth-Marshall visited The Gardens Arena in Warroad last Friday night. And like usual, it was a donnie-brooke from the start.
This contest was well worth the price of admission as both teams displayed the talents that have earned both programs Top 5 ratings (Duluth #1, Warroad #4).
Both clubs skated to a scoreless opening stanza. Early into the second frame, junior forward Zach Mausolf of Duluth-Marshall scored on a power play just :57 in. The game remained 1-0 until the third period when senior forward, David Hafferty of Duluth-Marshall scored a shorthanded goal to make it 2-0, at 9:23.
The Hilltoppers carried their 2-0 advantage into the final minute when Warroad pulled their goalie. At 16:44, senior forward Jeremy Hahn finally scored for the Warriors to make it a 2-1 game. As time was running out, junior defenseman Tai Larson put a shot on net from a sharp angle that trickled into the net, with 0.1 remaining, that tied the contest and forced overtime.
In overtime, Warroad picked up a penalty; however, junior forward Dane Shaugabay decided the game with a shorthanded tally at 3:44. Warroad outshot Duluth Marshall 29-21. For Warroad, Hahn and Shaugabay each had 1 goal, 1 assist. For Duluth Marshall, Mausolf had 1 goal, 1 assist.

As it now stands, it is going to be a horse race down the stretch in Section 8A.
The front runners, Warroad and Park Rapids, have unblemished Section 8A records at 7-0-0 and 6-0-0, respectively. Only problem is the two programs do not face each other during the regular season. With the emergence of the Park Rapids Panthers hockey program the past few years, it will be safe to say this match-up could potentially become an annual home and away series.
Knocking on the door is the East Grand Forks Green Wave at 4-3-0, and the surprising Kittson-Central Wolfpack also at 4-3-0. EGF suffered a tough loss last night to its arch rivals, the Thief River Falls Prowlers at the Little Ralph, 4-2.
Kittson-Central has positioned itself as a Top 6 contender as well.
Bemidji, TRF and Red Lake Falls each have (6) points. The Prowlers have without a doubt played the tougher schedule to date amongst the three teams. With victories over Moorhead and EGF last night, Tim Berglund's squad will heat up and look forward to hosting the Section 8A Tournament in their barn this February.
Crookston took the league leading, Warroad Warriors, right down to the final moments last night in Crookston, with some spectacular goaltending by Matt Grove who steered aside 44 of 46 Warroad attempts. Lake of the Woods is always tough in the Section 8A Tourney and never say never when the Bears hit the ice.
Bagley and Walker-H-A have yet to notch a Section 8A win on the season.
Late January and early February usually brings sub-zero temperatures but the ice always seems to heat up.
Make sure the student bodies of each team come out and support the greatest Section in Class A, the northern boys of Minnesota and Section 8A.

Warroad's Gigi Marvin broke the record books at Warroad High School on her way to earning the 2005 Ms. Minnesota Hockey. Gigi, now a Golden Gopher, keeps aim on following in the legecy of her grandfather, and Warroad's Mr. Hockey, Calvin Coolidge Marvin. The Old Man was sick, and Gigi Marvin feared he might get upset by the news. So she reluctantly entered his room inside the modest home where he lived on Steenerson Street in Warroad—a long slap shot from Lake of the Woods. It was August 2004. At the time, Gigi was the one of the most prized college hockey recruits in the country. After visiting Harvard and Dartmouth—the best women’s hockey programs on the East Coast—she had decided that the University of Minnesota was the place for her; she wanted to be a Gopher. That’s what she had come to tell her grandfather, Cal Marvin, who had long been a supporter of Minnesota’s fiercest hockey rival, the University of North Dakota. “Hey, Grandpa,’’ Gigi said. “Is it all right if you see me in the maroon and gold?’’
If she had been born in any other family, or grown up in any other town, such news would have been cause for relief, if not outright celebration. The U of M was relatively close to home, and the Gopher women’s hockey program was among the best in the country.
But Gigi Marvin did not grow up in just any family or just any town. As she evolved from high school superstar to current Gophers standout to potential Olympian, she couldn’t dodge her genes or cast off her geography. History and DNA were wrapped around her like the laces on her skates. With her 5-foot-8-inch, 165-pound body, the one that glides so easily around opponents, she has become a human milepost on hockey’s highway. She plays and everyone watches. She’s a Marvin, after all, and she’s from Warroad.
It was once a rugged sport, reserved for toothless guys with names like Moose, the kind of stubby-bearded sorts Cal hung with after games in Thunder Bay and Whitehorse, Canada. Now, hockey is a different game, with new kinds of standard bearers. One is a rink rat named Gigi.

After visiting Harvard and Dartmouth—the best women’s hockey programs on the East Coast—she had decided that the University of Minnesota was the place for her; she wanted to be a Gopher. That’s what she had come to tell her grandfather, Cal Marvin, who had long been a supporter of Minnesota’s fiercest hockey rival, the University of North Dakota. “Hey, Grandpa,’’ Gigi said. “Is it all right if you see me in the maroon and gold?’’
If she had been born in any other family, or grown up in any other town, such news would have been cause for relief, if not outright celebration. The U of M was relatively close to home, and the Gopher women’s hockey program was among the best in the country.
But Gigi Marvin did not grow up in just any family or just any town. As she evolved from high school superstar to current Gophers standout to potential Olympian, she couldn’t dodge her genes or cast off her geography. History and DNA were wrapped around her like the laces on her skates. With her 5-foot-8-inch, 165-pound body, the one that glides so easily around opponents, she has become a human milepost on hockey’s highway. She plays and everyone watches. She’s a Marvin, after all, and she’s from Warroad.
It was once a rugged sport, reserved for toothless guys with names like Moose, the kind of stubby-bearded sorts Cal hung with after games in Thunder Bay and Whitehorse, Canada. Now, hockey is a different game, with new kinds of standard bearers. One is a rink rat named Gigi.

Roseau Rams Stay Perfect With OT Win

For the second time in three weeks, Scott Oliver's son came through in the Nick of time.
Junior Nick Oliver's 6-on-4 power-play goal with 24.7 seconds left in regulation tied the game and senior Ben Nelson's backhander at 2:49 of overtime won it as the Roseau Rams edged Grand Forks Red River 2-1 on Tuesday night in a battle of two unbeaten high school hockey teams from neighboring states.
Roseau (14-0), the defending Minnesota Class AA state champion, and defending North Dakota champion Red River (12-1-1) put on a display of speed, skill, great goaltending and breath-taking transition games to keep a huge crowd at Fido Purpur Arena on the edge of the seats.
Oliver, who scored with less than a second left in regulation play in Roseau's victory over Bloomington Jefferson in the title game of the Herald Jason Stadstad Holiday Classic on Dec. 22, didn't wait long this time for his dramatic goal, his 11th of the season.

Section 8A Hockey Blog will be traveling to the Cliff "Fido" Purpur Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota, tonight to see this huge match-up between two hockey powerhouses.
These two teams didn't meet in the Grand Forks Herald - Jason Stadstad Hockey Tournament at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. The United States team entered the competition seeded seventh in the final round of twelve teams that qualified for the Lake Placid Olympics. The team was composed of young collegiate players and amateurs. The Soviet Union was the favored team. Though classed as amateur(they were all professional players, but the Soviet Government gave them different job titles to compete), Soviet players essentially played professionally in a well-developed league with excellent training facilities.
They were led by legendary players in world ice hockey, such as Boris Mikhailov, a right-wing and team captain; Vladislav Tretiak, considered by many the best ice hockey goaltender in the world at the time; as well as talented, young, and dynamic players such as defenseman Viacheslav Fetisov and forwards Vladimir Krutov, Sergei Makarov and Valery Kharlamov.
In exhibitions that year, Soviet club teams had gone 5–3–1 against NHL teams, and a year earlier the Soviet national team routed the NHL all-stars 6–0 to win the Challenge Cup. In 1979–80, virtually all the top North American players were Canadians although the number of US born professional players had been on the rise throughout the 1970s. The 1980 US Olympic team featured several young players who were regarded as highly promising, and some had signed contracts to play in the National Hockey League immediately after the tournament.

The Soviet and American teams were natural rivals due to decades-old Cold War disputes. In addition, President Jimmy Carter was at the time considering a U.S. boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics, to be held in Moscow, in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, which began the year before. Carter eventually decided in favor of the boycott.
On February 9, the two teams met for an exhibition match in order to practice for the upcoming competition. The Soviet Union won 10–3.
In Olympic group play, the United States surprised many observers with their physical, cohesive play, starting with a 2–2 tie against Sweden and followed by a stunning 7–3 victory against a strong team from Czechoslovakia. The U.S. team finished with four wins and one draw to advance to the medal round. In the other group, the Soviets stormed through their opposition undefeated, often by grossly lopsided scores – knocking off Japan 16–0, the Netherlands 17–4, and Poland 8–1 – and easily qualified for the next round although both the Finns and the Canadian amateurs actually had the USSR on the ropes before collapsing in the final period. In the end, Sweden and Finland (who overcame a disastrous start after sensationally losing to lowly Poland in their opening game of the tournament) also qualified for the medal round after defeating Czechoslovakia and Canada, respectively.

Grand Forks Central Knocks Off Green Wave 4-3

In a physically grueling boys hockey game, it all comes back to the basics.
On Saturday night, Grand Forks Central ended on top in an evenly matched game in the East Grand Forks Civic Center, squeaking by Senior High 4-3.
“In one-goal games like this, it comes down to little details,” Senior High goaltender Alex Christiansen said. “And they were better at that tonight.”
Central's Brenden Gust scored the game-winner with 1 minute, 39 seconds remaining in regulation when he redirected a shot from Bryce Anderson.

Roseau Wins 152nd Meeting In Rivalry; Clips Warroad 5-2 On FOX North

It was the 152nd meeting of these two colossal high school hockey programs. And in the end, the Roseau Rams had the early season bragging rights, again.
Roseau continued their undefeated season this time at the hands of the Warroad Warriors. The Rams displayed a balanced attacked and utilized five different goal scorers to garner the 5-2 victory.
The Rams had the early edge as Warroad adapted to the fast pace of play. Trevor George scored on a nifty back door pass from Cole Kostrzewski on Roseau's initial goal. Dustin Moser was the recipient of another crafty back door pass play from Ben Moser and Roseau carried the 2-0 lead going into the first intermission. Rams junior Aaron Ness added helpers on both, first period goals.
Roseau kept pressuring Warroad all over the ice and in the second stanza and the Rams were rewarded for the efforts. Nick Oliver and Tyler Landman each lit the lamp to give Roseau an insurmountable 4-0 cushion heading into the third period.
Warroad showed a feisty attack in the final, four minutes of play with power-play goals by Jeremy Hahn and Dane Shaugabay. But Ben Nelson blocked a Tai Larson shot and raced down the right wing and deposited an empty netter to round out the scoring with 1:11 left.
Mike Lee, who moved to 11-0-0 on the season and 23-0-0 in his career, was stellar in the pipes for Roseau while Warroad net minders Garrett Corneliusen and Jared Paquin shared duties. Corneliusen garnered the loss giving up four Roseau goals while Paquin looked very composed shutting the door on Roseau until the empty netter.
Roseau moved to 12-0-0 while the Warriors are now 10-4-0. Roseau now has the upper hand in the Mariucci Conference with wins over Moorhead and Warroad.
Anthony LaPanta and Kevin Gorg delivered a high powered broadcast from various locations in the Roseau Memorial Arena. FOX Sports utilized a Robo-Camera system since the old Memorial Arena isn't exactly television camera friendly. The broadcast was carried by the FOX Sports affiliates and was seen as far as the Middle East.
Hats off the FOX Sports for producing segments of nostalgia of Warroad (Henry Boucha feature) and Roseau (snapshots of the towns historical sites).

ALL-SECTION 8A:
Warroad was rewarded for their 2nd consecutive undefeated season in Section 8A play, as (5) Warriors were voted by the Section Coaches to the All-Section 8A team. Hardwick, Hasbargen and Olimb received the necessary # of votes as defenseman, and Oshie and Gabe Harren made it as forwards.
Other members of the All-Section 8A team were:
Goalie Justin Klinkhammer, forward Aaron Bendickson and forward Alec Holen of TRF; defenseman Aaron Gens, defenseman Brett Nylander, forward Brent Olson of Lake of the Woods; goalie Tyler Johnson and forward Matt Stengl of EGF; forward Tyler Lehrke of Park Rapids, and forward Donavan Haugstad of Kittson Central. Section 8A Head Coach of the year was Cary Eades of Warroad, and Warroad's Dennis Fermoyle and Baudette's Steve Olson shared assistant honors.
ALL-MARIUCCI CONFERENCE:
Warrior Goalie Tony Sorrels finally recieved some recognition for his outstanding season as he was named to the All-Mariucci Conference team. Hardwick, Hasbargen, Oshie and Harren were also voted All-Mariucci.
Other members included Moorhead's defenseman Brian Lee, defenseman Jon Ammerman, forward Brian Gifford and forward Nick Deutz; TRF's goalie Justin Klinkhammer, forward Alec Holen and forward Aaron Bendickson ; and Bemidji's defenseman Channing Boe, and forward Jesse Echternach. Dave Morinville of Moorhead and Warroad's Cary Eades tied in voting and were named Co-Coaches of the year for the Mariucci Conference.
MINNESOTA ALL-STATE TEAM:
Junior forward T.J. Oshie earned All-State (2nd team) honors on both of theAssociated Press and Pioneer Press teams. Oshie finished 3rd in the State inscoring with 43 goals and 42 assists for 85 points. Honorable Mention All-State certificates were awarded to defenseman Kyle Hardwick,Eric Olimb, Andrew Hasbargen, and goalie Tony Sorrels

Warrior Goalie Tony Sorrels finally recieved some recognition for his outstanding season as he was named to the All-Mariucci Conference team. Hardwick, Hasbargen, Oshie and Harren were also voted All-Mariucci.
Other members included Moorhead's defenseman Brian Lee, defenseman Jon Ammerman, forward Brian Gifford and forward Nick Deutz; TRF's goalie Justin Klinkhammer, forward Alec Holen and forward Aaron Bendickson ; and Bemidji's defenseman Channing Boe, and forward Jesse Echternach. Dave Morinville of Moorhead and Warroad's Cary Eades tied in voting and were named Co-Coaches of the year for the Mariucci Conference.
MINNESOTA ALL-STATE TEAM:
Junior forward T.J. Oshie earned All-State (2nd team) honors on both of theAssociated Press and Pioneer Press teams. Oshie finished 3rd in the State inscoring with 43 goals and 42 assists for 85 points. Honorable Mention All-State certificates were awarded to defenseman Kyle Hardwick,Eric Olimb, Andrew Hasbargen, and goalie Tony Sorrels

The Green Wave are back to their old ways in the EGF Civic Center. Fast, exciting high school hockey action was on display this night in the Red River Valley.
EGF senior forward, Joey Wikoff, exploded for (4) goals with a variety of goal scoring antics. Wikoff dashed the Crookston defense with his puckhandling and great scoring moves to capture a career high, four-goal night.
Defensemen Kody Vizenor also turned in a solid night netting (4) assists in the Section 8A conference win at the Civic Center.
EGF senior goaltender, Alex Christianson, earned the shut-out victory steering aside all (21) shots on goal for the victory.
