The Baudette Bay Classic ... Usiski Scores 'Trick' In LOW Win ... Fabian Tallies, Roseau Nips Blaine 1-0

Baudette Bay Hockey Classic 2008

The 2nd Annual Baudette Bay Hockey Classic was held this past Saturday on the bay in Baudette under blizzard like conditions.

LOW Bears 5 - Eveleth-Gilbert Bears 0

This year featured two games. The Lake of the Woods Bears defeated the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears 5-0 in the early game on Saturday. Lake of the Woods senior captain Danny Usiski netted the hat trick for the Bears. Nick Baade and Josh Smart also tallied for Lake of the Woods, who improved to 6-17-1.

Lake of the Woods wraps up their regular season on Monday night against the Warroad Warriors.

Eveleth-Gilbert is now 5-19 and will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Coleraine.

Roseau Rams 1 - Blaine Bengals 0

Saturday’s second game featured a ‘AA’ match-up between the Blaine Bengals and the defending State AA champion Roseau Rams.

The game was scoreless until almost seven minutes into the third period when Roseau’s Jason Fabian put the puck past Blaine goalie Danny Harper. Roseau goaltender Mike Lee slammed the door from then on as the Rams won 1-0 to remain undefeated at 23-0.

Congratulations to ALL players, coaches and the schools involved in this years Baudette Bay Hockey Classic, for competing and braving the elements.
