Star players such as UND's T.J. Oshie and St. Cloud State's Aaron Marvin were key figures on the last state championship team from Warroad High School.
If balance is to be the byword for the Warriors this season, they showed plenty of it Friday night in skating to a 5-2 Minnesota Section 8A victory over East Grand Forks Senior High in the Civic Center.
Five different players chipped in with a goal each and 10 Warriors were in the scoring column as Warroad improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in section play while dropping Senior High to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in section play.
Bryce Ravndalen, Brock Nelson, Andy Pelland, Jeremy Hahn and Andy Stoskopf were Warroad's goal scorers, while Michael Pieper, Brett Hebel, Jon Helquist, Eric Milbridge and Ian Mosher had a single assist apiece.
Sophomore Jake Useldinger scored both Green Wave goals, his first tying the game at 1 late in the first period and his second narrowing Warroad's lead to 4-2 after two periods.
